The truth about getting what you want

Once upon a time
We had to decide, to choose,
Between making a good living and loving what we do.
But I was born
When hippies roamed free,
When people rebelled with sex, flowers and possibility.
I didn’t get the memo
Saying things were black and white
And I was off like a tornado
Hoping my path was right.
It’s been drilled into our brains
“You can’t have all you desire”
Again and again and again
But I didn’t buy it so I set myself on fire.

Because I disagree
With this kind of negativity
And know my destiny
Is my responsibility,
Fully.
