How to find peace in chaos

There will be times when you find yourself in situations you’d never expect. There will be times when life and humanity let you down. There will be times you feel you have to explain yourself and your reasons for doing what you do. There will be times when you do things you don’t want because you feel you have to – and it still doesn’t work out. When you’re disenchanted and easily swayed and your foundation feels like sand instead of stone, when the chatter in your head is from everyone else but yourself…

It’s time to disconnect. It’s time for silence.

And that’s when you realize you’re in control of most of the situations you find yourself in. You realize that people let themselves down more than they can let you down and you can’t control anyone but yourself. You realize you don’t have to explain a thing because your ‘thing’ may be different from everyone else. You realize you don’t have to do things you don’t want to live the life you want to live. And as if with a gust of fresh air, your vision clears up and you know your foundation is made of stone and the chatter in your head becomes, once again, your own.

We are all on our own individual journey and when we disconnect and enjoy the silence for a bit we start to hear what our real self is saying. The sound of the outside world becomes just a hum and an honest voice rings through with the perfect amount of reverb and a dash of delay saying, “Do your own thing. Do you. It works.”
